Two central Ohio business projects are expected to add more than 100 new jobs to the region.
Both projects last week were awarded state tax breaks.
Axium Packaging, which produces plastic packaging for personal care, food, home, hygiene and other products, is planning to build a new facility in New Albany and Jersey Township for added capacity for tube manufacturing and specialized warehouse operations.
The project, which is projected to create 70 jobs, received approval from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority for a 1.23 percent, eight-year job creation tax credit, according the state Department of Development officials.
The project is expected to generate more than $3.6 million in new annual payroll.
A second local project in Millersport by Vantage Data Centers Management LLC is expected to create 37 jobs as the result of the company’s new location in the village.
Vantage, which has facilities around the world, powers, cools, protects and connects the technology of hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises, according to state officials.
The $2.1 billion project is expected to generate $3.7 million in new annual payroll.
The project received approval for a 50 percent, 10-year data center tax exemption from the state.
The projects are among five that were awarded state tax breaks last week. All totaled, the projects are expected to create 218 jobs and retain nearly 1,165 positions.
During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners before awarding the tax breaks.
The projects are expected to result in more than $14 million in new payroll.
Other projects include one by Becker Mining America Inc. in Mount Vernon. Becker Mining supplies energy, automation, communication, transportation and infrastructure technology for the mining industry.
The proposed project includes the acquisition of an existing facility to house intellectual property and manufacturing operations to better serve its customers, according to state officials.
The project was awarded a 1.169 percent, six-year job creation tax credit and is expected to create 40 jobs, generating $2.4 million in new annual payroll.
The Ohio Bridge Corporation received a 1.163, six-year job creation tax credit for the company’s expansion project in Cambridge.
The firm designs and constructs steel bridges in addition to a full range of services, including project scoping, engineering, fabrication, shipping and erection of bridges.
The proposed project includes the expansion of their current facilities with the construction of a 70,000-square-foot building for advanced welding equipment and streamlined production, according to state officials.
The project also includes the renovation of older buildings to support workforce growth, boosting efficiency and capacity.
The project is expected to create 41 positions, generating more than $2.3 million in new annual payroll.
Vilpe USA LLC, a Finland-based advanced manufacturing company focused on sustainability, producing smart roofing, HVAC, and monitoring solutions for the commercial property market, was awarded a 1.428 percent, seven-year job creation tax credit for its new location in Mason.
The proposed project includes the establishment of the company’s first North American office and will serve as its North American headquarters.
The project is expected to generate more than $2.7 million in annual payroll.
