Ohio’s technology credentialing program in May awarded the most funding in its nearly six-year history, according to a news release from Gov. Mike DeWine’s office.

During the May application round of TechCred, more than $9.9 million in funding was awarded, representing the highest total amount from any round of the program since it was launched in September 2019, according to the release. More than 620 employers were awarded, providing the opportunity for Ohioans to earn 8,362 tech-focused credentials.

TechCred helps businesses address their workforce needs by providing the opportunity for current and prospective employees to earn the credentials needed for a tech-infused economy. Ohioans in any industry may use TechCred to upskill, and businesses of all sizes are eligible for up to $30,000 per round and up to $180,000 per year.

“This record-breaking round of TechCred funding reflects our commitment to helping every Ohioan reach their version of the American Dream,” said DeWine. “We’re creating opportunities for people to grow their skills, advance their careers and strengthen Ohio’s economy.”

The July TechCred application period for Ohio employers is set to close July 31 at 3 p.m.
