A Columbus digital health-care company and a proposed data center in New Albany have been awarded tax breaks by the state of Ohio for their projects, which are expected to create a combined 107 new jobs.
AndHealth LLC in Columbus expects to create 75 jobs, generating $10.2 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project.
AndHealth works in the health-care system to “improve access and outcomes for challenging chronic health conditions. AndHealth provides whole-person specialty care and pharmacy in a partnership model that creates greater health equity for patients, lower costs for the health-care system, and growth for existing partners,” according to state development officials.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.9 percent, nine-year job creation tax credit for the project.
In New Albany, EdgeConneX is planning the construction and operation of a multiphased data center development.
Phase I will convert approximately 525,000 square feet of an existing building into an 80-megawatt data center.
Phase II proposes the construction of two 72-megawatt facilities to help meet increased demand in the Columbus area.
The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 50 percent, 10-year data center tax exemption for the projects, which are expected to create 32 new jobs and generate $4 million in new annual payroll.
EdgeConneX is a global data center provider, operating “highly proximate, high-powered, purpose-built solutions for customers at any scale,” according to state officials.
The two local projects are part of a total of 12 projects around the state to be awarded tax breaks. The projects are expected to create more than 1,100 jobs and retain another 2,686 jobs statewide.
The projects are expected to result in more than $73 million in new payroll and generate more than $2 billion in investments across Ohio. The tax breaks were approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority at its monthly meeting.
Projects in other regions of the state that were awarded tax breaks include one by LayerZero Power Systems Inc. in Streetsboro.
That proposed project includes an approximately 120,000-square-foot expansion of the existing manufacturing facility that will lead to the creation of 535 new jobs, generating $26.1 million in new annual payroll.
LayerZero designs and builds power equipment such as switches, power panels and monitoring systems used by technology companies to ensure computers and servers remain powered safely.
Prentke Romich Company in Wooster Township expects to add 60 jobs, generating $5.1 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project.
Prentke Romich develops and manufactures augmentative communication devices, computer access products, and other assistive technology for adults and children with a wide range of complex communication disorders, according to state officials.
The proposed project would reconfigure approximately 28,500 square feet of office space to accommodate an expanding workforce.
Vallourec Star LP in Youngstown expects to create 40 positions as a result of the company’s expansion project.
Vallourec Star produces high-quality steel pipe, supplying the Oil Country Tubular Goods market on a global level. The proposed project would expand current operations to manufacture a newly developed and industrialized production line.
Engineered Plastic Components — Columbia Inc. in Fremont expects to create 150 jobs as a result of the company’s new location in Fremont.
Engineered Plastic Components manufactures plastic products for various industries, including Tier 1 automotive and plastic bed products for the medical industry.
The proposed project involves the acquisition of a new facility to expand its current operations to meet increased demand.
Church & Dwight Co. Inc., in Seneca County, expects to add 40 workers as a result of its expansion in Old Fort.
Church & Dwight develops, manufactures, and markets a range of household, personal care and specialty products. The proposed project involves the reconfiguration of its current manufacturing facility and upgrades to its rail system to increase its capacity to meet increased demand for its new product line.
The Ohio Art Company in Bryan plans to create 53 new positions as a result of the its consolidation project. Ohio Art specializes in metal printing/lithography and manufacturing of other tin-based products, specifically for consumer products.
The proposed project involves facility upgrades and the purchase of machinery and equipment required to consolidate its operations between Ohio and New Jersey to Ohio.
Air Transport Services Group Inc. in Wilmington expects to add 48 workers as a result of the company’s expansion project. The firm provides air cargo transportation, maintenance and related services to air carriers and other companies that outsource their air cargo lift requirements.
The proposed project includes the expansion of operations at the Wilmington Air Park and relocation of maintenance functions from John Glenn Columbus International Airport, including the hiring and training of technicians, facility upgrades and new ground support equipment.
BSI Engineering LLC in Warren County plans to hire 29 additional employees as a result of the company’s expansion in Deerfield Township. BSI provides consulting and design engineering services to industrial manufacturing companies in chemical, renewable fuel, pharmaceutical, food and beverage and other process heavy industries.
Flavor Producers LLC in Sharonville expects to add 44 positions as a result of the company’s expansion. Flavor Producers, along with its parent company Glanbia Nutritionals, conduct flavor development and manufacturing. The proposed project involves an investment in its new spray drying process to increase capacity at its existing facility.
The Constant Company LLC in Springfield plans to add 20 positions as a result of the company’s new location and data center.
