The 6th District Court of Appeals recently ruled that two men convicted of a 1999 murder were not entitled to postconviction relief simply because they maintained their innocence.

Karl Willis and Wayne Braddy filed a consolidated appeal challenging the judgment of the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas which denied their petitions for postconviction relief.

In 1999, following a joint trial before a jury, the two were convicted of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery with firearm specifications for the murder of 13-year-old Maurice Purifie.
