New trial denied for man who shot his wife's new boyfriend

A man’s motion for a new trial was properly denied for the third time, according to a recent opinion from the Fifth District Court of Appeals.

The three-judge appellate panel ruled this week that Robert Petrone failed to provide any newly discovered evidence that would cast doubt upon his felonious assault conviction.

Petrone was found guilty of felonious assault in the Stark County Court of Common Pleas after he shot his wife’s boyfriend multiple times at a Jackson Township tree farm.
