Despite changes to a bill designed to encourage settlements in business lawsuits, the Ohio Association for Justice remains opposed to House Bill 225.

The proposed legislation, sponsored by Rep. Jim Butler, R-Dayton, would establish a new procedure for settling civil actions between businesses and other organizations through offers of settlement.

Under the bill, a party in a civil action would be permitted to make a written offer to settle the action for a specified amount of money. HB 225 outlines the requirements for such an offer.
