Bill would mandate firearm stats before gun purchase

The sponsors of House Bill 222 testified this week that the bill has become more than a political statement.

Introduced in response to the Republican party’s “war on women,” the proposed legislation, sponsored by Reps. Robert Hagan and Mike Foley, would require that consumers be given firearm statistics before purchasing a gun.

Hagan, D-Youngstown, and Foley, D-Cleveland, pitched the measure as a “pro-life gun bill.”
