A measure pegged as the Universal Background Check bill gained steam in the Ohio General Assembly this week.

The proposed legislation, House Bill 119, was introduced into the legislature in April by Rep. Tracy Maxwell Heard and had its first hearing Tuesday before the House State and Local Government committee.

“The Universal Background Check bill is designed to fill the void of sensible gun control legislation in Ohio,” said Heard, D-Columbus.
