Court demands resentencing in conviction from 1998 murder

A Shelby County Court of Common Pleas decision sentencing a man to consecutive sentences for conspiracy to murder and complicity to commit aggravated burglary was recently overturned after an appellate panel ruled that it failed to make the proper findings.

The Third District Court of Appeals upheld Vance Short’s assignment of error claiming his trial court did not make the required findings before sentencing him to a total of 15 years in prison for his role in the shooting death of a Shelby County man.
