New lawyers turn to pro bono work to gain experience during job hunt

It’s a stubborn job market these days for fledgling lawyers, but that hasn’t stopped some new attorneys from pursuing justice as they wait to land a legal position.

“Some new attorneys have turned to pro bono to hone skills and taking a pro bono case from legal aid is a great way to do that because legal aid provides training, mentoring and other support, like using the legal aid office to meet a client,” said Jane Taylor, the Ohio Legal Assistance Foundation director for pro bono and communications.
