Legislation would ban companies from asking criminal record questions on applications

Rep. Sandra Williams has said potential employees must take steps to remain competitive during challenging economic times, House Bill 235 was crafted to help job seekers with a criminal past.

The bill would prohibit an employer from including any question on any application form that concerns whether the applicant has been convicted of or pleaded guilty to a felony in Ohio or any other jurisdiction.
