Bill would require parole notices be sent to prosecutors via certified mail

A piece of proposed legislation that would adjust notification standards for parole hearings is before state lawmakers.

Senate Bill 133, sponsored by Sen. Eric Kearney, D-Cincinnati, would require that the notice the Adult Parole Authority of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction provides to a prosecuting attorney before it recommends any pardon, parole or commutation of sentence be provided by certified mail, return receipt requested.
