Highway maintenance vehicles could be added to state's Move Over law

After earning unanimous support in the Ohio House, a bill that would update the state’s Move Over law is headed to the Senate.

The proposed legislation, House Bill 172, would require motorists to slow down, proceed with caution and, if possible, change lanes when passing stationary highway maintenance vehicles.

“This is truly a bipartisan measure,” said Ohio Department of Transportation Director Jerry Wray. “When it comes to highway safety, there are no Republicans or Democrats. There is only common sense.”
