Bill designed to protect private student info

Rep. Andrew Brenner, R-Powell, has introduced a bill into the Ohio General Assembly that would prohibit schools from transmitting private student data to any agency or federal government office without school board approval.

“Right now the public perception of privacy with the federal government is at an all-time low,” he said. “With scandals within the IRS, data collection by the NSA and wire taps of private citizens by the federal government, more restrictions, not fewer, are needed to protect our citizens.”
