Bill would provide schools with immunity from employee handgun use

An Edgerton school board member testified before the House Education committee last week in support of a bill to authorize a school district, community school, STEM school or chartered nonpublic school board or governing authority to specify employees allowed to carry concealed handguns in its school safety plans.

“As a school board member, I feel responsible for all of the students and employees in our school district,” said Julie Santa Rita, a former school teacher and current Edgerton board member.
