State Senator wants to ban assault weapons in Ohio

Sen. Shirley Smith has crafted a bill that would ban assault weapons throughout Ohio, limit the size of a magazine and require the Ohio Attorney General’s Office to prepare for the creation of a firearm and ammunition transactions database.

“While we cannot stop every act of suffering inflicted upon the public by depraved individuals, I believe that it is our responsibility to limit access to unreasonably dangerous weapons and to hold each person accountable for their firearm purchases,” said Smith, D-Cleveland.
