Sen. Charleta Tavares has introduced a bill into the state legislature that would eliminate the practice of the insurance industry using an individual’s credit worthiness when it comes to setting a policy.

“Senate Bill 73 would make it unlawful for an insurer to use a person’s credit score, credit history or credit report for ... fixing a premium rate, establishing the terms and conditions of an insurance policy or determining whether to issue, continue or renew a policy,” said Tavares, D-Bexley.
