More than 4,500 Ohio residents have benefited from mortgage settlement

Since March more than 4,500 Ohio residents have received a total of more than $165 million in consumer relief as a result of the national mortgage settlement.

The national mortgage settlement was a $25 billion settlement involving the five largest mortgage servicers related to questionable loan and foreclosure practices, including “robo-signing,” which was the practice of signing mortgage documents without verifying their accuracy, according to the National Conference of State Legislators.
